In medical terms, an abnormally high blood sugar level is referred to as Hyperglycemia. High blood sugar is always dangerous for the health. Hyperglycemia is a sign of diabetes. In general, a fasting glucose level (early a.m. before breakfast) is considered to be normal, if it is between 70 mg/dL and 100 mg/dL. Following a meal, the level of glucose may increase slightly above this range. Normally, the random blood sugar measurements are less than 125 mg/dL.
